Hello
I'm Chris Brinkman, the founder of the Owl Police. My goal is to create a platform where people can share the conservation stories that matter most to them. Together, we can connect and inspire others by sharing these important narratives with a wider audience. Let's make a difference together!
My Story
I began my photography journey at the age of sixteen with my first 35mm Pentax film camera. I taught myself how to use a camera develop and print my own film. In 2011 I switched over to digital photography and quickly began doing wildlife photography. Within a few years I found myself traveling around the globe taking pictures of wildlife and meeting some amazing photographers and conservationists in that time.

I quickly became an advocate for ethical wildlife photography and began promoting this through my work. Spending much of my wildlife photography career focused on a local barred owl population, earning me the reputation of the “owl Guy.’ Through countless hours learning about these birds in urban environments and educating the public about the owls in their backyards. I continue this work today through public outreach and educational talks. This outreach has further built my reputation of being a strong advocate for conservation.

In 2018 my photography journey would take a drastic turn when I began working with a local wildlife rehab center. At first, I was just taking pictures for the organization but then it quickly turned into me actively participating in rescues and releases. Eventually this volunteering and my passion for owls and raptors would turn into me being able to help these birds directly through renesting and adopting fledglings and nestlings. Learning even more about these amazing raptors and how they survive in the wild.

In 2021 I began working more directly with biologist nonprofits and other agencies to document the work they are doing in the field. In 2020 I founded the Owl Police but was not sure what I was going to do with it. In 2025 I began working on what the Owl Police is today. My goal is to build a community of storyteller's researcher's artists and photographers who through their work help to promote the conservation of our planet and all that resides within. If you are interested in conservation and have a story to tell, please reach out to us and let us help you tell your story!
